Breast Cancer Awareness and Spirulina Benefits

How Aztec Spirulina Can Support Women Battling Breast Cancer

As we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, it’s an important time to reflect on the importance of health, wellness, and community support for those affected by breast cancer. Breast cancer touches the lives of many women and their families, and at Aztec Spirulina, we are committed to promoting health and well-being through taking pure and high grade spirulina.

What is Spirulina?

Spirulina is a blue-green algae that has gained recognition as a superfood due to its high nutritional value. It’s brimming with proteins, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making it a potent ally in supporting overall health. For women dealing with breast cancer, incorporating Spirulina into their diet may offer several benefits.

Key Benefits of Spirulina for Women with Breast Cancer

1. Rich in Antioxidants

Spirulina is packed with antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress in the body. This is crucial for individuals with cancer, as oxidative stress can contribute to cell damage and disease progression. Antioxidants work to neutralize free radicals, potentially reducing the risk of cancer cell development.

2. Support for Immune Health

A strong immune system is vital for anyone facing cancer treatment. Spirulina has been shown to enhance immune function by stimulating the production of antibodies and other immune cells. This immune boost can help the body better defend itself against infections and other illnesses during treatment.

3. Nutrient Density

Cancer treatments can lead to decreased appetite and changes in dietary needs. Spirulina is incredibly nutrient-dense, providing essential vitamins and minerals in a small serving. This makes it an excellent supplement for women who may struggle to consume adequate nutrition while undergoing treatment.

4. Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Chronic inflammation is linked to cancer progression. Spirulina contains phycocyanin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound that may help reduce inflammation in the body. By potentially combating inflammation, Spirulina might play a role in supporting overall health during challenging times.

5. Energy Boost

Fatigue is a common side effect of cancer treatment. Spirulina is known for its ability to enhance energy levels, thanks to its rich protein content and essential amino acids. Incorporating Spirulina into the daily routine can help women feel more energized and better equipped to manage their day-to-day activities.

Breast Cancer Awareness Effective 5 Step-By-Step Self Examination
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

At Aztec Spirulina, we're all about empowering you to take charge of your health and well-being. This month, we stand together in the fight against breast cancer.

We're excited to share a 5-Step Guide to Effective Breast Self-Examination because caring for your health starts with you! Stay tuned for our easy-to-follow steps that can make a difference. Remember, early detection saves lives.

Step 1. Choose the Right Time:
Perform your self-exam a few days after your menstrual period ends when your breasts are likely less tender. If you are post-menopausal, select a consistent day each month.

Step 2. Visual Inspection:
Stand in front of a mirror with your shoulders straight and your arms at your sides. Look for any visible changes in the size or shape of your breasts. Check for: swelling, dimpling or puckering of the skin, changes in the nipple (inversion, discharge, or alterations in its position), raise your arms overhead and inspect your breasts for any changes again.

Step 3. Manual Examination (while standing or lying down):
Choose a position: You can perform this either while standing (in the shower) or lying down. Lying down may help you feel the tissue more clearly. Use the right technique: use the pads of your fingers (not your fingertips) to feel for lumps. Move your fingers in a circular motion and cover the entire area of the breast, including: the outer part of the breast, the inner parts, including the armpit area (axillary tail), the area near the collarbone

Step 4. Patterns to Use:
There are different patterns you can follow: (1) circular Pattern: Start at the outer edge and move inward in small circles; (2) Up-and-Down Pattern: Start at the top and move down vertically like you are mowing the lawn; (3) Spiral Pattern: Begin at the nipple and work your way outward in a spiral.

Step 5. Check for Changes:
Feel for any unusual lumps, hard knots, or masses. Even benign lumps should be reported to your healthcare provider. If you notice any changes, such as persistent pain, lumps, or any other concerns, schedule a visit with your doctor.

Self-examinations are an essential part of breast health. While they do not replace regular screenings and professional care, they empower you to take charge of your breast health. Share this guide with friends and family to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection!

5 Reasons How Spirulina Lower High Blood Pressure

Spirulina has Good Cholesterol

People with hypertension tend to have clogged arteries and blood vessels due to excessive eating of red meat, processed meat, dairy, baked goods and sweets, fried food, tropical oils and more. Spirulina has high good cholesterol (HDL). It is known as good cholesterol because it absorbs cholesterol in the blood and carries it back to the liver. The liver then flushes it from the body. Thus good cholesterol is responsible for removing bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Spirulina has Nitric Oxide

Nitric oxide is vital for regulating blood pressure. Together with the spirulina’s good cholesterol the lining of the blood vessels becomes more responsive. Recent studies have shown that nitric oxide stabilizes blood pressure. Spirulina’s nitric oxide helps dilate and expand the blood vessels to prevent high blood pressure.

Powerful Antioxidants and Anti-inflammatory properties of Spirulina

Third, Spirulina has plenty of natural antioxidants such as Phycocyanin, Chlorophyll and Beta Carotene. Oxidative stresses and inflammations in the body cause free radicals to multiply and adversely alter lipid, proteins and DNA and trigger a number of human diseases. Based on extensive studies C-Phycocyanin is a powerful antioxidant because it can activate antioxidant enzymes, scavenge free radicals, and protect against lipid peroxidation and DNA damage. Chlorophyll is also an antioxidant because it helps remove inflammation in several parts of the body and also cleans the blood resulting to better blood circulation. There were also research showing that Chlorophyll inhibit lipid peroxidation and protect mitochondria oxidation. Lastly, carotenoids, specifically beta-carotene, acts as a scavenger of lipophilic radicals within membranes of every cell compartment. It also presents an oxidative modification of LDL (Bad Cholesterol) out of the body. Spirulina is rich in Beta-carotene containing 30x more carotenoids than carrots.

Potassium and Magnesium in Spirulina

Magnesium and potassium are relevant in controlling high blood pressure. Magnesium for instance is crucial for muscle and nerve function. It helps relax the muscles, nerves, and blood vessels maintaining normal blood pressure. Recent studies show that potassium helps ease the tension in the blood vessel walls. Another culprit in high blood pressure is sodium. Sodium attracts water resulting in water retention making blood thicker which in turn increases blood pressure. The more potassium you eat, the more sodium you lose through urine. Spirulina has the complementary benefits of magnesium relaxing the blood vessel walls while potassium in removing sodium in the blood.

Spirulina Has Amino Acids

Spirulina is known to have complete non essential and essential amino acids. It is rare for any food to contain all amino acids. Based on an article from todayspractitioner.com there are seven amino acids namely: arginine, cysteine, glutamic acid, glycine, histidine, leucine, and tyrosine was associated with lower levels of arterial stiffness. Spirulina also helps ease stress and anxiety and improve focus. Most Aztec Spirulina patients experience better sleep pattern and less grogginess upon waking up after taking 2 capsules in the morning and 1 capsule before sleeping.

Spirulina is good for high blood pressure. In this article, we examined the top 5 reasons that can help regulate high blood pressure. Always make sure to check the brand, source and purity of your spirulina. To make sure that your spirulina is pure and high grade, add 2 capsules of Aztec Spirulina to your daily diet to help reduce blood pressure levels.

Spirulina for Chronic Kidney Disease Patients (CKD)

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a complication of excess waste products in the bloodstreams caused by several factors mostly due to unhealthy lifestyle, diet and other medical conditions. Click here to learn more.

Why is Spirulina Good for the Kidneys?
Taking Spirulina regularly can aid CKD because it has vegetable protein, NOT animal protein that harms the kidneys. Vegetable protein helps recover from weakness especially after dialysis. It is a source of good cholesterol that helps reduce bad cholesterol, the cause of diseases like hypertension, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, kidney disease, etc. Because it is a complete food, spirulina replenishes the nutrients that are lost during dialysis. Spirulina stimulates the bone narrow to produce healthy & mature blood cells like RBC / hemoglobin to help recover from renal anemia (low hemoglobin) a complication of kidney disease. Spirulina is an amino acid methionine & cysteine that helps clean, cell regeneration or revive weak cells and restore liver and kidney functioning. Spirulina has many antioxidants that clean the blood, veins and major organs like the kidneys and liver. Some forms of cleansing or detoxification are the following: sweating, regulated bowel movement and frequent urination.

How to Take Spirulina for Kidney Problems?
Understand that getting kidney disease did not just happened overnight. It is a recurring health condition wherein the patient spent years of eating the wrong food, living an unhealthy lifestyle (smoking and drinking) and maybe due to side effects of long term medications. In order for spirulina to work, the patient needs to do necessary lifestyle changes and healthy choices. From the food and water intake. We also suggest that you consult with your medical doctor for proper monitoring progress.

Dosage of Spirulina for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Patients
As reported by Dr. Ramon Ramos he saw improvements in CKD patients taking Aztec Spirulina capsules. There should be a gradual increase of dosage wherein we recommend on the 1st week to take 1 capsule, 1 hour after meals (3 times a day) and on the 2nd week, take 2 capsules one hour after each meal (6 capsules a day), and on the 3rd week onward, take 3 capsules one hour after each meal (9 capsules a day).
